Track Of The Day :: Curb - So High

Well, we don't like to be the ones to say I told you so, but as we did - we are. Back in August last year we introduced you to a new four-piece out of Birmingham that had come to our ears by the name of Curb. So impressed were we, that we immediately got in touch with the guys to pose a few questions - thus breaking these young boys' interview virginity at the same time. Read more here

We said then that Curb could soon be 'striking a light' judging by the first demo they uploaded online, 'How Are You Now?', and having yesterday unveiled a new track, 'So High' - which was premiered on Amazing Radio last night - they seem indeed to have now switched on a blogosphere buzz button.

A shoegaze opening with some arresting riffs and the laid-back vocal of Tom O'Ryan, it broadens out into a nifty little production (under the guiding direction of Ryan Pinson once again) with a winding bassline that works its way through like a good stoner bass should.

'You're zoning out', repeats O'Ryan, as they all get...well, so high, you could say. Probably time to all get in the zone with this band; we're still staking our last spliff on Curb heading into the Brum Premier League before too long.

You can catch Curb live when they support fellow Birmingham foursome Dumb, as below.

February 21 - Hare & Hounds, Birmingham
March 08 - The Victoria Inn, Derby
March 11 - Old Blue Last, London

April 10 - Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham (solo)
