Listen :: Making Monsters - Nosebleed

"Making Monsters are a quartet of riff-mongers from Derry, Ireland" reads the PR blurb. It might have also been advisable to have warned that these hardcore punks have the power to make your ears bleed should you leave the volume too high. Though initial taster 'Nosebleed' is as raw and loud as they come, it also holds something that grabs the attention even if the genre is not one you might normally take to.

Having supported the likes of Young Guns, Max Raptor and Future of The Left off the back of their self-titled debut EP, the four-piece are now gearing up to release new EP ‘Attention’ on June 16 via Death By Records. Check out lead cut 'Nosebleed' below.

Frontwoman Emma Gallagher met the rest of the Monsters (Paul Monk, guitar; Joe Coyle, bass; Brian Doherty, drums) when she was 17 and the band have spent the last two years honing their craft and generally finding out who they are. Themes throughout the release are varied. ‘Limits’, for example, is about the loss of her grandfather, with title track ‘Attention’ being a comical take on society’s view of love and how it influences peoples’ perception and expectation of it. Throughout, it’s the quartet’s crucial grasp of balancing the aggressive with the melodic that shines through, with cutting edge riffs and brutal vocals.
